About The Budget Prepper

Hi! I’m so happy and excited that you’ve stopped by. My name is Savannah, and I’m the voice behind The Budget Prepper

I am a biologist, a mother, a wife, a learner, a reader, and a prepper. I’m passionate about science, the environment, simple and frugal living, and disaster preparedness.

Why did I start The Budget Prepper?

I’ve always loved reading apocalyptic, dystopian novels and watching the same types of television shows (The Walking Dead, The 100, Revolution…). The day I became a mother, it was like a huge slap in the face saying, “Hey you! Yea, you! You’re responsible for someone other than yourself now! Wake up!” Thus, beginning my prepping journey.

I am not one of the doomsday preppers you see sensationalized on the television and other media, I’m simply a mom doing everything I can to make sure that my family is prepared for whatever may happen. The world is a scary and unpredictable place. Disasters and crises are everywhere.

My husband and I are 100% soft core preppers (for now!) and are by no means experts. I am not the authority on any topic, and won’t claim to be.

As I started my prepping journey, I dug into research (that’s the scientist part of me coming out), and I realized that there is a lot of information out there, but not much geared towards those of us who want so badly to prep, but are restricted by budget. My purpose in writing this blog was to hopefully inspire others to live their best lives, while preparing for the worst (on a budget, of course).

I will write about our successes, our failures, the amazing deals we find, and the not so amazing deals. I hope to learn and grow throughout this journey and would love for you to ride along with me. I’m a people person, so please reach out and become a part of our community!
